Issue:
On April 6th, the D96 Board of Ed presented the Central/Hauser campus improvement plan at the Village of Riverside Board of Trustees ('BOT') meeting. D96 needs approval for 5 variances to proceed with the plan and start work in the Summer of 2024. BOTs did not feel they had sufficient information as to how the field size (and required fence variance) would affect the education and safety of the student population -- and BOTs are considering the effect of reducing the field by 4000 sq ft. As a result, the plan was not approved and they are reconvening on April 20th to discuss this topic again. The proposed plan is in jeopardy of being reduced in scope and delayed past the start time of Summer 2024.
Call To Action:
If you would like to advocate for your children and support this proposed plan, you can :
1. Write an email expressing your support of the current proposed plan to the BOT: VillageTrustees@riverside.il.us.
2. Attend the meeting on April 20, 7 pm, Township Hall, Room 4.
3. Attend the Central PTO meeting tonight, Monday, April 10, at 6:30 in the Central Library. D96 Superintendent Dr. Ryan-Toye will be attending via Zoom, and Board of Education member Wesley Muirheid will be there in person, to go over the plan and talk about how a smaller field would impact students educationally.
